WTEYA Welcomes UAE Client and Portuguese Partners for Seawater Desalination Collaboration

WTEYA Group was honored to welcome a distinguished delegation from the United Arab Emirates, accompanied by their Portuguese technology partners, to our headquarters in Dongguan, China. The visit centered on advanced seawater desalination solutions and marked a significant step toward addressing the Middle East's growing water security challenges.

A Strategic Meeting on Desalination Technology

The Middle East faces one of the world's most acute water scarcity challenges. With limited freshwater resources and rapidly growing industrial and municipal demand, countries across the GCC region are investing heavily in seawater desalination infrastructure. The UAE alone aims to increase its desalination capacity significantly over the next decade, driven by population growth, economic diversification, and industrial expansion.

Against this backdrop, our UAE client — a leading regional engineering contractor — visited WTEYA to evaluate our desalination technology for upcoming projects. Their Portuguese partners brought additional expertise in European water treatment standards, creating a truly international collaboration framework.

Model 4021 Seawater Desalination Unit: Compact Power

During the technical sessions, the delegation showed strong interest in our Model 4021 seawater desalination unit. This compact, containerized system is engineered for rapid deployment and reliable performance in harsh coastal environments:

  • Modular containerized design — plug-and-play installation with minimal civil works
  • Advanced reverse osmosis membrane technology — high salt rejection rate exceeding 99.7%
  • Energy recovery system — reduces power consumption to below 3.5 kWh/m³
  • Automated PLC control — unattended operation with remote monitoring capability
  • Robust pretreatment — multi-stage filtration handles variable seawater quality

The Model 4021 is specifically designed for mid-scale applications where space is limited but output must be dependable. Its containerized format means it can be transported to remote coastal sites and commissioned within weeks, not months.

240m³/Day Seawater Desalination System: Meeting Municipal Demand

The delegation also examined our 240m³/day seawater desalination system in detail. This system represents a scalable solution for communities, industrial parks, and resort developments that require a reliable freshwater supply from seawater:

  • Daily output: 240 cubic meters of potable water meeting WHO drinking water standards
  • Multi-stage RO configuration — first-pass SWRO with optional second-pass polishing
  • Comprehensive pretreatment — dissolved air flotation, multimedia filtration, and cartridge filtration
  • Post-treatment remineralization — ensures water quality meets local health regulations
  • Skid-mounted architecture — easy expansion by adding parallel skids as demand grows

For the UAE market, where ambient temperatures regularly exceed 45°C and seawater salinity can reach 45,000 mg/L, the system's high-temperature tolerance and robust membrane selection are critical advantages. Our engineering team presented detailed performance curves showing stable output even under extreme conditions.

Why the UAE Client Chose WTEYA

After evaluating several international suppliers, the UAE delegation selected WTEYA as their preferred technology partner. The key decision factors included:

  • Proven track record — 20 years of experience designing and manufacturing water treatment systems for demanding environments
  • OEM/ODM capabilities — ability to customize system specifications, control protocols, and materials to meet local certification requirements
  • In-house manufacturing — our 30,000m² production facility ensures quality control and on-time delivery
  • Comprehensive after-sales support — remote diagnostics, spare parts logistics, and on-site commissioning services
  • Competitive total cost of ownership — energy-efficient design and durable components reduce lifecycle costs

Technical Discussions and Next Steps

During the two-day visit, both teams engaged in in-depth technical discussions covering:

  • Site-specific seawater quality analysis and pretreatment optimization
  • System sizing and configuration for the client's project pipeline
  • Integration with existing infrastructure and distribution networks
  • Compliance with UAE municipal water quality standards
  • Training programs for local operation and maintenance teams
  • Timeline and logistics for equipment delivery and commissioning

The Portuguese partners contributed valuable insights on EU water treatment directives and helped bridge technical requirements between Middle East operational conditions and European engineering standards. This trilateral collaboration — UAE market knowledge, Portuguese regulatory expertise, and Chinese manufacturing capability — creates a powerful combination for delivering world-class desalination projects.
